Afternoon with Grace Lin

Our afternoon with Grace Lin was a wonderful event. As They Grow members were teamed with the younger friends from the 5-9 group. Grace led them in a great activity and read from her new book. We had some time to socialize and then Grace spent an hour with the older girls for an Author Chat. Everyone had a terrific time. Thanks to Grace. Thanks to all who came to share a great afternoon with new friends. |

Panda Paddler Team Shirt Design Contest

The Panda Paddlers are an intergenerational dragon boat team of parents, sons, daughters, sisters, brothers, and friends!! We are looking for a winning t-shirt design, which will be entered in the festival wide contest on October 4, 2008. The shirt needs to convey the team’s enthusiasm for the Dragon Boat Festival. This is our second year in the race and we are thrilled to be part of such a great event again!
The T-shirt must include the following information –
7th Annual Philadelphia International Dragon Boat Festival
October 4, 2008
Families with Children from China – Delaware Valley
Panda Paddlers
Rules:
All entries must be submitted in pencil on a white sheet of 81/2 x 11 paper by July 31, 2008
Families and friends can participate – does not have to be an FCC member
There should be a design for both the front and the back of the shirt
Clean, solid pencil lines should be used in the drawing design
All entries must include name, age and phone # on the back of the drawing
The winner of the design contest will receive a free t-shirt, have his/her name and picture posted in the FCC-DV Tent in the Athlete’s Village and will receive a gift certificate.

ATG Members made plans to gather together in January to create some crafts..... Hand made necklaces - hair scrunchies and trendy zipper purses were made by the kids.......they chose the craft ideas and each participated in each craft...... Members ranged from 8-14......the group chose to sell their products at CNY and donated the Proceeds to Half the Sky......specifically the Little MOuse Emergency Fund to support the recent weather related crises in China...... Memebers of ATG who attended CNY took turns selling their wares and made $300.00 to send the HTS.......we included a letter informing HTS of the efforts of the group to support those in need......
