FCC Families at the Philadelphia Orchestra - Saturday, March 5th

Come and join FCC families as well as Bethany Christian Services Families in our 2nd of 3 Kimmel Center concerts by the Philadelphia Orchestra.   I hope you can attend this exciting event and experience the huge glass concert hall known as the Kimmel Center!   At 12:45 pm those who can stay can have lunch at the local deli, well reviewed Convenient Food Mart.   David Morgan

For the 1st Saturday in March, 2 events in the Kimmel Center, Broad and Spruce Streets, Philadelphia:
Saturday, March 5, 2016
10:00 am- 11am Perelman Theater--Drums!  (You can arrive late for this 10am percussion event.)
Guide to the World of Percussion, is led by Bill Marconi and will explore the role that the percussionist plays in musical traditions from around the globe.    This event features Settlement Music School students.
 Then........
Britten - Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra with
Yannick Nézet-Séguin - Conductor
        11:30 am- 12:30pm Verizon Hall--Philadelphia Orchestra!
Whether you know this timeless and entertaining children's classic by heart or are hearing it for the first time, you'll love how Britten dissects the orchestra, examines all the parts, and brings it all back together in a glorious tapestry of sound! Yannick brings his infectious enthusiasm to The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra and gives families the ultimate VIP tour of The Philadelphia Orchestra. Plus, hear Albert M. Greenfield Student Competition winner Kasey Shao perform the first movement of Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 23.  (See concert listing below.)

Looking Ahead For the 1st Saturday in April:

Saturday, April 2, 2016          11:30 am Verizon Hall
We all know that Music reigns in the concert hall … but what happens when Silence buys a ticket and Noise barges in? Is the performance doomed? The clever (and very quiet) Magic Circle Mime Company joins The Philadelphia Orchestra and proves-- with a little help from Mendelssohn, Bach, and Strauss--that, with our great musicians, the conductor--and the audience!--the orchestra will always make beautiful Music.
