Update on Philadelphia Orchestra/Chinatown Event - February 6th

Saturday, Feb. 6th Philadelphia Orchestra / Chinatown Event
There are 200 or so tickets available!   It should be easy for anyone to get a ticket at our $10 group rate.   If parents/guardians are wondering if I received their mail order, they can write to me, David Morgan, at morgans006@yahoo.com.   By Friday at 3pm I plan to write an email to all who have mailed their order.   I will call Group SalesFriday at 4:15pm to make the final order.
There is an optional Pre-Concert Adventure at 10:30am in the Perelman Theater involving students from Settlement Music School relating to the main concert at11:30am.   I should be in the Kimmel Center at about 10am when it opens, wearing a light gray sweatshirt with a picture of  the Kimmel Center on front.   If families come early they can look for me in the main lobby by the Spruce St. door.
Looking forward to Saturday, when the weather should be partly cloudy with a temperature range of 31-52 degrees.

Philadelphia Orchestra Concert and lunch in Chinatown - February 6, 2016

Have you ever seen the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia?  Does your child play an instrument?  Does he or she want to see and hear the Philadelphia Orchestra in action?  Would you like to have a family lunch in Chinatown?

You are invited to join FCC families for a 1 hour concert in Verizon Hall plus walk to Chinatown for lunch.

You can take transit (SEPTA.org: the Family Pass for up to 2 adults and 3 children is $29 unlimited all day travel) or drive.

For this Saturday, Feb. 6th concert, mail ticket orders, $10 per ticket, with check payable to David Morgan, 29 School St. Ambler, PA, 19002 by this Thursday, Feb. 4th.  (Email for questions is morgans006@yahoo.com)  Meet inside the Kimmel Center at 11am Saturday to get your tickets from me at the Spruce St. entrance.   The Kimmel Center is located at Broad & Spruce Streets, about 5 blocks south of Suburban Station of the SEPTA Regional Rail service.   A huge glass building, it is easy to find.

The ticket order form can be found by clicking here.

Family Concert: B...B...B...Beethoven: Those Four Famous Notes
Family Concert
February 6 11:30 AM
Lio Kuokman Conductor
Michael Boudewyns Host
Really Inventive Stuff

Beethoven Symphony No. 5
You know the famous first four notes; now get to know the rest! What makes Beethoven so great, and why do we still love him 200 years after he scribbled down those notes? We dig into Beethoven's ever-popular Fifth Symphony seeking answers to these questions, and learning fun facts about his life and times along the way. (Did you know Washington was president during Beethoven's lifetime? Roller skates were invented, too!) This special theatrical production by Really Inventive Stuff is a delightful introduction to Beethoven's musical genius.
I hope you can attend this exciting event and experience the huge glass concert hall known as the Kimmel Center!      David Morgan, FCC President

Also, looking ahead to 2 other Orchestra/ Chinatown days as your schedule allows...........
For the 1st Saturday in March:

Yannick Nézet-Séguin - Conductor
Program:
Britten - Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra
Saturday, March 5, 2016        11:30 am Verizon Hall          Yannick brings his infectious enthusiasm to a new production by the "seriously fun" Puppet Kitchen. Whether you know this timeless and entertaining childrens' classic by heart or are hearing it for the first time, you'll love how Britten dissects the orchestra, examines all the parts, and brings it all back together in a glorious tapestry of sound! The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra is the ultimate VIP tour of The Philadelphia Orchestra.
For the 1st Saturday in April:

Saturday, April 2, 2016          11:30 am Verizon Hall
We all know that Music reigns in the concert hall ... but what happens when Silence buys a ticket and Noise barges in? Is the performance doomed? The clever (and very quiet) Magic Circle Mime Company joins The Philadelphia Orchestra and proves-- with a little help from Mendelssohn, Bach, and Strauss--that, with our great musicians, the conductor--and the audience!--the orchestra will always make beautiful Music.
