Chinese New Year Event is cancelled due to lack of registrations.

I am sorry to say that we did not get enough registrations and we are going to have to cancel our Chinese New Year celebration this year :-(.  If you registered on line, I have issued refunds.  If you mailed a check, I will be sending that back to you shortly.

As an alternative, I wanted to let you know about the Chinese New Year Gala put on by the Mainline Chinese Cultural Center.  The event is free and runs from 1 - 5 pm.  More information can be found here.
Click for more info on MLCCC Chinese New Year Gala.
If anyone is interested in going and would like to meet up - perhaps for lunch at a Chinese Restaurant in the area, let me know & we can set something up.

So sorry to be delivering this news. I have been working on the Chinese New Celebration for seven years and have always enjoyed the special day.  Hopefully we can work something out for next year.

FCC-DV Year of the Sheep Lunar New Year Celebration is scheduled for this Sunday, February 22 at 2:00 pm.  Joy Tsin Lau Restaurant, Chinatown, 12 - 3 pm.

But, we are in danger of having to cancel since we do not have enough registrations to make the event a "go."

  • If you meant to register, but thought you missed the deadline, sign up now!
  • If you know of someone who said they were going to register, check that they did.
  • Spread the word to people who might be interested in attending.

Dartmouth Chinese adoption survey

Hello, All!

The following message was sent to me through our website. Passing the information along in case you may be interested.

Also, don't forget that our Chinese New Year Celebration is just around the corner!! See the post below for more information.

All the best,
Ruth Hanson

Dear members of FCC,

My name is Rae Winborn, and I am senior at Dartmouth College. I am currently conducting research for my Senior Honors Thesis on the Chinese adoptee experience and how different factors (such as family attitude, geographic opportunities, social attitudes, etc) can affect ethnic and racial identity. As a Chinese adoptee myself, this research is very meaningful to me. If you are interested and both a) Chinese adoptee and b) over 18, please fill out this sort questionnaire by clicking on the link below.

The survey will take approximately 15-20 minutes and, if interested, will be followed up with an interview. Participation is voluntary and responses will be kept confidential.

Please also forward this to any other Chinese adoptees you may think will be interested:

If you have any questions please email me at

Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.
