Terracotta Warriors at the Franklin Institute - November 4th

Only in Philadelphia and Seattle for this rare US visit ongoing until March!   Join FCC DV for an amazing China experience.

Saturday Nov. 4th, at the Franklin Institute, 
               222 North 20th St, Philadelphia


4:15 pm- 5pm   Mysteries of China IMAX FILM!    $6  
5:00 pm- 6pm Terracotta Warriors Exhibit of 2000 year old life size statues from China!   $20 ($15 age 3-11)

Program:  The 10 statues are part of China's enormous army of figurines unearthed by farmers.    These soldiers were created to be guarding the tomb of China's first Emperor, Qin.
The exhibit shows many sides of life in early China, and contains dozens of other replica warriors plus their accessories in 14,000 feet of floor space.
We are not going to the rest of the museum.

Saturday, November 4.      Meet at Box Office to pick up tickets for IMAX Mysteries of China by 4pm.  Look for David Morgan with an FCC DV sign.
Please allow plenty of time for travel/ walking and/or parking.   The Franklin Institute is a few blocks down the Ben Franklin Parkway from Suburban Station if you take regional rail.   The 33 bus goes right by it.

If you drive, parking is quite limited at the museum garage, 271 N 21st St.  The museum website fi.edu, has 4 more recommended lots.

FCC-DV Family Picnic - Saturday, August 5th

Dear FCC Families:
     We have a confirmed reservation for the FCC DV picnic:

Saturday August 5th from 4pm to 7pm
  Parkside Place, Upper Gwynedd Township, PA.

We can use the picnic tables, castle park, field areas for frisbee, tennis and basketball courts.

The castle park is an amazing structure for youngsters to explore.   Shoes are needed, no sandals.  
There is also room for a wiffle ball game or frisbee in the wide open fields.

Although we cannot grill there, we can bring lots of cool summer sandwiches, salads and fruit/dessert.

Last Call to register for Camp FCC sponsored by FCC-South Jersey!!

June 9 - 11.  Registration is closing SOON!  This is always a fun weekend!  Read on for more information....

Hello Campers!

    We have planned a fun filled weekend with many activities for our sweet 16th year of Camp FCC!  Please note that registration will be closing soon.  If you care to join us, please be sure that your envelope is post marked by May 12th.

    We will kick off the younger and middle children’s activities on Saturday morning with the South Jersey Kite Club!  All younger and middle children campers will have the opportunity to make a kite and learn how to fly it. Our older campers, upon check in,  will have the opportunity to choose two out of three activities for their rotations.  We have arranged for many different Chinese games be taught to our campers.  We will have our usual camp activities as well;  archery, canoeing, horseback riding(must sign up for time slot at check in), rock wall climbing, swimming and t-shirt dyeing (don’t forget to bring a plain white cotton t-shirt) .  Weather permitting, we will also get to view the night time skies at the observatory.  On Saturday night, Mr. Chip Candy will be our DJ for the annual Camp FCC dance party.

     For the adults, we are honored once again to have Dr. Jane Aronson speak at our Saturday morning conference.  Dr. Aronson is a pediatrician who specializes in adoption medicine & CEO Worldwide Orphans.

   Our adult book club discussion will be on Lisa See’s latest novel, The Tea Girl of Humming Bird Lane.  A moving story about tradition, tea farming and the enduring connection between mothers and daughters.

The program starts with the zest of Carl Maria von Weber's Overture to Oberon.

Save the Date for Chinese New Year Celebration: February 5, 2017

Our annual Chinese New Year celebration at Lai Lai Garden is being planned for Sunday, February 5th from 12 Noon until 3pm.

The address is 1144 Dekalb Pike, Blue Bell, PA 19422.   DeKalb Pike is Route 202 and the restaurant is near Center Square.

Saturday, Feb. 4 and Saturday April 22 at 11:30am for Philadelphia Orchestra Family Concerts and optional Chinatown Lunch.

Our holiday party at Upper Dublin Lutheran Church was lots of fun.    It was good to catch up and the kids had a fun time.
